Is Photography Over?
The question posed by the SFMOMA was, "is photography over?". Thirteen people responded to the question offering up different views on the question. A majority of the thirteen said that photography is not over. Many of the 13 thought it essential to define photography first. I liked Walead Beshty's definition of photography. "Photography... seems best described as a type of 'medium' or 'an agency or means of doing something". After reading the responses I do not think photography is over. I think that photography as a medium cannot be fixed. It must always be malleable and open to new ideas and techniques. There are always going to be changes and advancements throughout time.
